My name is Marta Rydz-Domańska, I live in Warsaw. I am a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź (major: graphic design) and at the University of Warsaw (major: Polish philology). I have worked or collaborated with many publishing houses and press agencies. My knowledge comes not only from my studies, but above all from the implementation of various graphic projects.
Currently, my professional life is mainly a book illustration. I already have a lot of illustrated children's books, and in addition dozens of edited, designed and complex books and magazines (scientific, specialist, fiction etc.). I create in many ways: with paints, ink, felt-tip pens, crayons and tablets; on canvas, cardboard, paper and computer, linoleum; I crochet with yarn and sew fabric.
I am inspired by the world of nature in its infinite richness of colors, textures, compositions and moods. My works bring back memories of most distant journeys (Japan!), but I’m also inspired by the titmouse in lilac bushes or a stone found on a forest path.
However, the illustration of books gives me the greatest professional and artistic satisfaction - when words stimulate the imagination and the image from the head is transferred to paper and goes to its place next to the text, creating an inseparable semantic and compositional whole with it.
